Hand Crafted Enamel

At the heart of the Model 1 is the vitreous enamel dial, which has been the sole focus of one of anOrdain's in-house enamellers from the initial cutting of the copper blank to the final printing. Each dial takes a minimum of 12 hours and many years of experience to complete.

Outside of Switzerland and Japan, anOrdain is one of the only watchmakers in the world producing enamel dials in-house. anOrdain's enamelling studio has been operating since 2015, housed in a purpose-built facility in the East End of Glasgow, UK.

Heat Treated Hands

With their experience working to precision timing at high temperatures, anOrdain enamellers have applied themselves to mastering the craft of heat bluing. In small batches, the hands are carefully tempered to an even and consistent finish.

Numerals and Indices

We kept the feel of the original print design, inspired by cartographic maps of the Scottish Highlands, making some minor updates to enhance the visual balance and legibility of the dial.

Slim Profile

With a sliver of copper sandwiched between up to 7 layers of enamel, anOrdain's dials are between two and three times the thickness of a standard painted brass watch dial. At only 11mm in depth, the case is designed to showcase and protect the dial whilst fitting comfortably under a cuff.
